🌟 Big Feelings, Calm Bodies: Starting School Edition A parented workshop for children ages 5–6 Starting kindergarten or Grade 1 is an exciting milestone, but it can also bring big feelings—for children and parents alike. New classrooms, unfamiliar routines, separation from caregivers, making friends, and not knowing what to expect can leave young children feeling worried, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves. In this fun and supportive parent-and-child workshop, children will learn simple, age-appropriate tools to help them understand their feelings, calm their bodies, and feel more confident about starting school. Through stories, discussion, movement, play, and hands-on activities, children will explore: how to recognize and name different feelings how emotions can feel inside their bodies simple calming strategies they can use at school what to do when they miss their parent or feel nervous how to ask a teacher for help ways to approach new friends and unfamiliar situations reassuring self-talk for the first days of school Parents will participate alongside their child, learning the same language and strategies so they can continue practising them at home. You will leave with practical tools to support a calmer, more confident transition into the school year. This workshop is ideal for children who are preparing to begin kindergarten or Grade 1, particularly those who may feel nervous about separation, transitions, new environments, or meeting new people. Friday, August 28, 2026 9:00–11:00 a.m. Silver Springs Golf and Country Club $59 per child and accompanying parent/caregiver. Price increases to $69 after early bird deadline of August 2nd.
